Window inspiration....

Every time I do a new window display, I get asked what inspires me. Today I would like to shine a light on of my biggest inspirations, and her name is Corrina!
Corrina has a shop on Etsy.com, her seller name is Piddx, and she sells some of THE most amazing images you could ever hope to find. I have to admit I originally started buying her collage sheets for jewelry making purposes, but the images were so fantastic I decided to use them in advertising and window displays for the store! The "mod" circles in the first two pictures are from a collage sheet of forty-eight individual one inch mod flower circles. I just picked one, re-sized it printed a ba-zillion (it's a real number you know) of them out , cut and ta-da! Mod flower wall decor!

My latest window display was created entirely around the Koi fish from Corrina's Japanese Koi Fish #321! Summer is coming and we've been blessed with these beautiful warm sunny days, I wanted to do a window to show that, in a quirky sort of way. I was browsing the Piddx store and there they were... a sheet of eight different Koi fish!

Now I must say this... I tend to do things the difficult way...always have. If I need to get the mail from the mailbox in front of my house, I'll go out the back door, down the alley and around the block! I blew these fish up in size, cut them out individually, they are two sided so I cut two per fish and then glued them together! I took me about two weeks to cut and glue them together. I'm sure there is a much easier way to have accomplished this , but..... that just wouldn't be me! Anyway! the fish turned out so well that I made some for the lady next door for her to hang up in her twin grandsons bedroom!

September 19, 2009 form 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM the Downtown Partnership is having it's first annual Fall Festival on Fifth! It will be in the three hundred block of downtown Fifth Avenue here in Clinton, and will feature games and activities for the kids, a petting zoo, Guitar Hero contest, food vendors, chili cook off, pie eating contest and Arts/Craft vendors. Think Lyons Art Fair meets kids ice cream social! It will be tons and tons of fun!! But we need more Art/Craft vendors!! If you or someone you know is a vendor and would be interested in participating please email me and I will send you an application. The application will be up on the Downtown Partnership web page, but as of today it is not so I don't have a link for the application yet. However I do have a copy saved here on my computer so if you email me admin@bizzybscrubs.com I can email it to you! Booth space is 10x10 for $50 without power access and $75 with power access. If you need two spaces we can accommodate that too, just request two spots on the application. Set up begins at 8:00 AM with tear down after the fair is over at 4:00 PM. We are looking for all kinds of vendors, jewelry, painting, pottery, homemade bath an body products, sculptures, stained glass, wind chimes made out of beer cans! quilts, soda cap art, pre-made scrapbook pages, anything and everything! I just wanted to post a few quick things here.....

Number one: if you're on Facebook PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE join the Bizzy B Scrubs "group". I'm on Facebook everyday and find it's easier to alert the group to things that are coming up through there. So if you are on there just look me up and join, you'll get reminders about sales and events, heck I was even brave enough to post a video on there about new summer items!! So join it's super easy and super convenient!!
Number two: Bizzy B Scrubs is also on Twitter...I've posted a message before about this, but again it's so easy to sign up for, and what I think is the coolest thing you can sign up to "follow" BBS on your cell phone! Now why I think that is too cool is, if you're like me and you don't check your Facebook account often (oh who am I kidding I'm on there EVERY day!!), but say you're not like me and not glued to the internet and don't get the reminders and updates through FB if you follow me on Twitter on your cell phone you'll get real time messages sent to your phone as a text! So the minute I text "we just got new Katherine Heigel scrubs in" and hit post... it comes up on your phone! Now I will promise you right here and now that I will not be like some of the other "Tweeters" out there who post things like "Hey...I'm bored...just eating a grilled cheese." NO I will not be posting stuff like that!!! I will only post things I think you would be interested in like sales reminders,and event reminders, you have my promise!!

Windows...Windows....Windows....

You know I haven't gotten this whole blog "thing" down yet! I can't seem to get my pictures to download in a nice orderly fashion when I post them and when I type it looks great but when I post it to the blog the words get all chopped up.....I wonder why that is?!? SO ANYWAY here are some pictures from the window display I did for Mothers Day. Hopefully a lot of you had the opportunity to come by and see it in person. I had friends and family send me pictures of the "moms" in their lives and I blew them up into 8x10 pictures and plastered them all over my window. I think it turned out GREAT! I got some really fantastic black and white pictures form the early thirties and forties, and my mom graciously let me put her picture with me as a baby from the seventies up LOVE YA MOM!!! I enjoyed doing it and I think people enjoyed it too...there were several times I'd drive by or be walking in to open the store, and people would be stopped in front of the window looking, I think they got a kick out of it! I'll post pictures of the newest window installation, I think it turned out good too!! I'm also open to suggestions for ideas for windows. They don't have to be scrub related, you'll see that with the newest window and with the one I have in mind for the Ballons In June Downtown Night Glow (June 25th 6-9 sale info to follow, and Coupe DeVille will be playing that night!!! Bizzy B's is on Twitter!!!! Yes you read it right BBS is now on Twitter!! I will not be posting things such as what I'm eating for lunch, or what TV program I'm watching! However I will be posting about sales and new items that are arriving in the store. If you don't have a Twitter account they're easy to set up AND, if you would like you can set it up so that whenever I post something you can receive a text message sent directly to your phone!!! Again no silly postings about what happened on Dancing With The Stars the night before, just blurbs about BBS stuff! Just wanted to post a little blurb about questions that I get asked from time to time;

Can I order online from your website? The answer is no. One of the reasons I opened the store was because I'd gotten so disgusted with ordering online because it seemed that the sizes from brand to brand and catalog to catalog were different, so I'd order pay shipping and handling, realize it didn't fit, pay shipping and handling AGAIN to send it back. At Bizzy B's you come in you see the style/cut/color of the merchandise you get to try it on and leave happy. So no there are no future plans to sell from the website....sorry!

Can I get a current copy of your catalog? Again the answer is no...BUT you can access the online catalogs of my suppliers Cherokee, Landau, Peaches, and Urbane through my web page, which you obviously know about because you can only access the blog from there! But in case you've forgotten it's www.bizzybscrubs.com. These online catalogs are what I order from so what you see is what I see. If you find something and I don't have it in the store I will do everything I can to get it for you, however sometimes the catalogs have items that have already had their run through and are no longer available, I do apologize for that, but it unfortunately is out of my hands! I also want to stress that I will do all that I can to get an item for you, but this is not a JC Penny Catalog store, if someone starts to take advantage of this courtesy I will stop special ordering for that individual. I can't spend inventory dollars ordering everything someone sees on the web, and then either doesn't pick it up or changes their mind and then I'm left with a size or color/style/pattern I don't carry in the store, I just wanted to get that out there.

Do you ship orders? No I don't ship because frankly that would make me mail-order now wouldn't it?

What is your return policy? My return policy is like almost all other retail stores....if you have a receipt I will issue you a full refund in whatever form of payment you used. Which brings me to a point...if you pay with a credit card/debit card I have to put the purchase back on your card. I'm sorry for the inconvenience of that, but I get charged an outrageous fee every time I run a credit/debit card through my credit card machine. If a credit/debit purchase is returned and I put it back on the card I get those fees back, therefor I'm not loosing money on credit card purchases...I hope that make a little more sense. If you don't have a receipt you may either exchange the merchandise or I will gladly issue you a store credit, whichever you prefer.

What's the deal with the Scrubs Club Card? It's pretty simple actually for every purchase you make you get a bumble bee stamp on the back of the card and once it's full you may redeem it for twenty dollars off your next purchase. Now I'd like to take some time to explain that once the card is full you get $20 off your next purchase. I've had people want to know why they couldn't use it on that purchase... it's because you have to purchase the merchandise to get credit on the punch card.... you don't get credit for what your going to purchase it's for what you have already purchased that you get credit for. While I'm on this note the punch card may not be used with any other discounts or promotions. It says that right on the card, so you can't use it with the HyVee 20% off register coupon, or when we have a sale, you can use it instead of a promotion or discount if you would like, but not in conjunction. You may use it with a store gift certificate, because a certificate issued by the store is just like cash, so yes you can combine those two. Also if you make a purchase that fills up your card, if you would like to go and select another item and use it right away, you may do that also, it just has to be two separate purchases.

Double Punch Thursdays.....

Just wanted to post a little blurb about a new promotion I'm implementing this month. Starting March 1st every last Thursday of the month will be "double punch day". Bring in your Scrub Club card on the last Thursday of the month and every purchase you make that day will be doubled! If you spend $20 that day you get $40 worth of punches!! It's pretty simple but with the economy they way it is every little bit helps so make sure you stop in !!!!!

Yes it's true I'm finally getting the hang of all the new social networking that's out there!! If you're on Facebook please join the Bizzy B Scrubs "group". I just created it yesterday and we've already got 14 members YEAH!!!! If you don't have a Facebook account it's easy to create one just go to www.facebook.com and start setting up your profile. Once you join the BBS group you'll start receiving updates from me about sales, new items, events going on downtown, or just general ramblings about the store!

I've also decided to take over the empty store window next to mine...I'm tired of it being empty. I've got some really neat ideas for the window, some kinda "funky" New York inspired window displays that I hope will turn out in reality as good as they look in my head!!! I'll post pictures as the windows start to come together, and please post comments or ideas! The first window should be up and running no later than the first weekend in March. I plan on showcasing the Peaches MedCouture BioSmart lab coats. BioSmart is a patent-pending technology that binds chlorine bleach to fabric to harness chlorine's effectiveness against staph, E.Coli, and Hep A, and prevents fabric contamination. Studies have shown that doctors and nurses are the biggest carriers of these bacteria, and as they go from patient room to patient room they carry these germs on their clothes. Who knew?!?! Ramblings....

Hello Hello Bizzy B Scrubs friends! I just thought that this might be a more casual, way of getting info to my faithful customers! I was doing the "newsletter" thing but as you can tell by my last letter in August I didn't keep up with it very well!! I'm sure everyone can sympathize with me when I say the newsletter thing is a good idea for the right venue, holidays, schools, family reunions etc. but the format didn't quite work for me and what I was trying to get out to you guys!! And I have to be honest there were months where not much was going on, and I couldn't fill a page, even when I used the biggest font available!! I've used blogspot.com for my personal use to keep my family living in other states up to date on the going ons in my family, so I though I'd start one for my other "family"! Be sure to check here for upcoming sales information, events happening here in Clinton, and just general scrub information. I'll be able to download photos, which I really couldn't do in my newsletter, and you can see new things coming into the store, events here in the downtown, and maybe an occasional customer photo or two!! Maybe I'll spotlight a particular item or brand, if I think it's got something neat to offer, or just because I think it's neat!! I may from time to time just get on here to ramble about common everyday things, and feel free to comment I'll check them as often as I can.Leave comments, but if you have questions please email me admin@bizzybscrubs.com because I check my email every morning, sometimes throughout the day, and you have a better chance of getting a quick response through the email than through here.
